The UQ-llTD Academy of Research joint PhD Program is open for National and International Students who wish to continue their studies in a PhD program at the University of Queensland, Australia. 


The University of Queensland will be able to contribute a subsistence allowance to successful candidates to enable them to complete their postgraduate studies.

Admission Requirements: 

Candidates are required to successfully complete the university’s research-based advanced degree conditions: 

  • Have a certain amount of research experience; 
  • Have achieved an appropriate university degree,  
  • Can successfully complete the English language requirements. 

Recognized Diplomas 

  • Bachelor’s degree from an approved university with at least honors class IIB or equivalent, along with relevant experience;  
  • Graduate degree of at least one year full-time or equivalent with a GPA of 5 on the UQ 7-point scale, plus relevant experience, approved by the university;  
  • Bachelor’s degree plus at least 2 years of documented relevant experience, approved by the university;  
  • Other qualifications or experience that demonstrates that you can meet the admission standards. 


Applicants are required to have at least one the forms below: 

  • Master or Bachelor Degree;
  • with courses that have been successfully achieved that are oriented towards the development of research expertise with at least 1 unit value, e.g. 50% of a 2 unit course; 
  • Successful accomplishment of an individually evaluated, monitored research study with a minimum of two units of aggregate coursework at the University of Queensland (UQ). 
  • Scientific articles with significant contributions as an author, which appear in acknowledged academic reviews or in collections produced by renowned editors. 
  • Scientific or professional articles or reports that have been developed for industry, government or business, that follow the general standards of academic reporting, that include an updated assessment of the appropriate research literature, a statement of the procedures used and an analysis of the results, etc., and that show you to be a valuable resource to the research community; 
  • A published portfolio of original creative work along with a publicly available summary and critical review of some/all of this work, or a similar collection of work by other individuals, and that shows the advancement of a science-based perspective on the original creative work as research; 
  • A provable professional or industrial experience in which you can show that you managed to plan and deliver a project, operating with a high standard of self-reliance.
